Permanent Make up—A Bright Idea 🙂
We’ve all had that morning—you wake up late, you’ve pressed snooze 7 million times… You end up rushing out the door and make up wasn’t an even an option. At times like this, you definitely ask yourself: “Wouldn’t it be great to not have to worry about my makeup every single day?” Literally the bain of all womens existence.
Permanent makeup can alleviate the hassle of doing your make up every day.
What Exactly is Permanent Make up?
Permanent makeup mimics the look of just-applied lipstick, lip liner, eyebrow pencil, and eyeliner. Yet, the ironic thing about permanent make up is that it looks far more natural than any make up you’ll ever wear. It’s done through a process called micropigmentation, where a tattoo pen is used to insert permanent ink into the skin. Each procedure takes between 30 and 120 minutes, a local anesthetic is used to numb the area being tattooed. Just like any tattoo, initially the color will appear brighter or darker, it will then fade and settle beautifully. Healing is between 3-5 days.
Beautiful Benefits
The most obvious benefit of permanent make up is waking up every day with your “face on.” You can swim, exercise, shower, sauna… and wake up still looking put together and ready to go. It can be ideal for the woman who is constantly on the go. Permanent makeup may be for you if:
- You’ve lost hair due to chemotherapy, accidents, burns, menopause or cosmetic surgery.
- You have a difficult time applying makeup due to age or conditions, such as arthritis.
- You have allergies to traditional makeup or have sensitive skin.
Is it Painful?
Making sure you feel as little as possible, is of the utmost importance to us. At Blush, we have done complete Medical training, which means that the skin is completely numbed before and during all procedures. Using various topical anaesthetics that have been medically developed for permanent makeup application makes procedures as comfortable as infinitely possible.
Will a touch up be needed?
- After the initial procedure, you may want to do a touch-up about 6-8 weeks after. A touch-up is a colour refresher. Permanent make-up can be a process. It is recommended that you wait at least 6 weeks before your touch-up so your initial procedure has time to heal properly. To traumatize the skin sooner can be uncomfortable and doesn’t allow enough time for the pigment to settle in the skin. Remember, pigment is inserted under a few layers of skin. Therefore, after scabbing, you will find that the colour is very light and sometimes even disappears. This is why we say, give it at least 6 weeks for te colour to push through the skin and for the true pigment to surface.
What are the side effects during or after the procedure?
- During the procedure there may be some minor bleeding. This again, is client specific. Many people take blood thinners on a daily basis so some slight bleeding would be expected. Others show little or no signs of bleeding. Bruising is rare but again, if a person is on blood thinners, bruising could occur. What is seen more often is that eyebrows rarely if ever produce any bruising; minor bruising during eyeliner procedures is possible if the skin being tattooed is very thin and close to the vascular system. This also applies to lip procedures in the event the client is more mature. If bruising does occur, typically it is minor and subsides in a few days.
- While the brows may show little after effect, eyeliner and lipdmay show a little swelling. This is very dependent upon the amount of work performed.As examples; an eyelash enhancement will show very little response to the tattooing procedure compared to a more moderate response when wide eyeliner is performed. The same philosophy applies to lip color procedures. A lip liner or blended lip liner will show less effects of the procedure than that of a full lip color. Also, some people swell more from minor skin infractions than others.
- There is usually some tenderness for a few days. The color is much darker than you may expect for the first six to ten days.
Is it safe?
- A new needle or blade is used for each client
- All equipment is completely sanitized
- Gloves are worn during each procedure and changed as often as needed
- Botles and any supplies/equipment are wrapped in plastic and rewrapped after use to avoid any cross contamination
